Elizabeth Hughes features in much of this story, a young girl who at the age of 11 began as a human guinea pig and due to the magic of doctors like Frederick Banting, Charlie Best and James Collip learned to manage her illness. She lived to the ripe old age of 74. The authors bring the reader right into the lives and stories of the professionals and their patients who brought the insulin miracle to life. No novel can compare to the real life men and women who lived the miracle.
