i enjoy these Mma Ramotswe book and this was no exception. I see that it is on the wishlist of an Oxford Conventionee so I am giving it to her. Hope you enjoy it.
It's been three years since my last convention and there are still book to read from both Gothenburg and Oxford. I am avoiding conventions until I've cleared that pile of books. But you, MissMarkey, will surely be sipping Bordeaux wines and having a great time next weekend at yet another convention. Enjoy! I will pop into Oxford in three weeks time as part of "England of the films" themed tour.
I am mid reading this book and the chapter about snakes made my hair rise. I am often dog-sitting at my friend's summer cottage which is a lovely place, but there are snakes there. They really give me the creeps as with five dogs you can't do much else than try to get the dogs' attention before the snake does. And I can still see my cousin's FB-posting from last summer - an adder with his neck crushed by a door. Wind had thrown the door shut and when my cousin went to push it open again she got the scare of her life - a horrible grimace of the crushed snake, all his teeth bare. Gaa!

Finished while dog-sitting for my friend. The moral of the story is that good work mates are worth their weight in gold. I do know that, having had a bad one as well. Had I known how to commit a perfect murder she would have been dead. As I could not figure it out I changed to another work place.
The book is waiting for Annelis to return from Glorious Yorkshire, where she travelled today.

Not long after Annelis returned from rainy and cold Yorkshire I made a bus tour to sunny and cloudless England. My favourite stop was Highclere Castle, also known as Downton Abbey. A lovely old mansion with a tragic history.
Didn't see MissMarkey, but otherwise I enjoyed Oxford very much.
Today Mma Ramotswe moves to Kerava.

Thank you very much for your visit and this wishlist book, Kirjakko! Nice and warm summer is just the right time to read about Mma Ramotswe.
Yes, it was really nice and warm or should I rather say too hot summer days while I was reading this lovely story. We have had no rain for seven weeks, only sunshine. I am starting to understand how they feel in Africa while waiting for the rains to come. Farmers are desperate and so are gardeners. Well, some people are happy - those who want to become brown. I don't understand how it is so desirable to get brown by sunshine. But if you are born brown it is not fine at all! What is the sense of it?

Thank you for fulfilling my wish.
Oh, I enjoyed my once-a-year-dose of McCall Smith. Well, that's an estimate. I have the next addition to this series in my to-be-read pile but I'll try to restrain myself from reading it too soon.
Mma Makutsi's baby won Charlie over. One of the funniest and sweetest scenes in this book. And the scenes with snakes made my heart pound. The mysteries were once again not so important as the ponderings and the relationships and the milieu.
Lukutuoli has this on her wishlist.

Oh, thank you so much toukokuu for this book from my wishlist and Peonio for getting this book sent to me :)! I´m so thrilled to receive a book which has been registered somewhere else than Finland and it´s nice to read about the journey it has made this far. Mma Ramotswe is enjoyable summer-reading into my opinion too and I have a pile of these waiting for the summer holidays ahead.
Well, read this in the middle of winter then, but nevertheless, it was quite as enjoyable, as always. It was interesting to read about the baby of Mma Makutsi and the warm relationship between her and Mma Ramotswe. And as usual, some good laughs came along with this story too!
