I read the book and I liked it. The idea is very nice. What will happen if you clone a person? Will all the minds be the same. From identical sibblings we know this is not the case, so alos in the book it does not happen. What is strange is that one of the clones is female, biologically she cannot be an identical clone of the father. This could have been worked out better.

Journal Entry 6 by Uschan from Bielefeld, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Sunday, May 9, 2004
I received the book several days ago - thank you! - and began to read. Will send it on ASAP.

Journal Entry 7 by Uschan from Bielefeld, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Friday, August 13, 2004
Well, what to say? An astrophysicist whose wife died gets 5 clones of himself made and raises them himself. The book deals mostly with the psychological problems of the then adult clones. I started curiously but got more and more disappointed reading. This is science fiction more in the sense of social sciences not natural or technical science. Science fiction of this sort can be quite interesting as you can see e. g. in the books of Ursula K. LeGuin. But here the story is not very interesting, the characters oversimplified, the plot unconvincing, the problems don't get solved. Not really a cliffhanger. Impressive: the book was published in 1976 - the way Sargent treated the problem 20 years before the birth of Dolly seems very farsighted to me.

I apologize for leaving the book alone for several weeks. I was ill and had some other problems to deal with. Now I'm waiting for the address of lorelei03 to send her (or him?) the book. Hope you will like it better!

Just received this in the mail today. I had given up on this book - I'm glad to say I was too hasty. It looks interesting, and maybe it will restart my interest in time travel books.

Journal Entry 16 by BooksnBeer from Pasadena, Florida USA on Friday, April 14, 2006
I would say this was an O.K book. It was not what I expected and it was more of a statement about the times, decade or year that the events were happening. The book didn’t really discuss cloning, on any level. The main characters could have been bothers and sisters. Only at the very end do I see a tie-in with cloning and then the book turns to a discussion of does our meddling with science interfere with the natural order of the universe and/or religion.

I did enjoy reading the Author’s 1973 predictions of the year 2000. Too bad we don’t have those automated highways.

I’m waiting on the address of the next person – as soon as I receive it this will be traveling again – but, only to another place on planet Earth.

Journal Entry 19 by Brujula from Valenciennes, Nord-Pas-de-Calais France on Friday, October 20, 2006
I finally read this book.
It is almost premonitory, more than science-fiction. I found it rather interesting, although I didn't really care for most of the characters.

I'll mail it to the last one of the ring as soon as I have the adress.

Sorry for keeping this book so long, and thank you for your patience!

Journal Entry 20 by Brujula from Valenciennes, Nord-Pas-de-Calais France on Friday, January 12, 2007
I've sent several pms to the last person on the list and I've had no answer, so I guess I'll send the book back to Potat1556 if he's ok.
