Although many characters from previous books are present in this one, it could almost be a stand-alone because the role they play is peripheral. The story of a young woman hiding from her past who helps people in the final stages of their lives is a good one. She is, of course, not the only one with a past that needs to be dealt with. A good distracting and entertaining read for a busy period at work.
