There's not a cloud in Constable Hamish Macbeth's sky, just plenty of warm sunshine and not quite enough of beautiful Priscilla Halburton-Smythe. But as eight hopeful members of the Checkmate Singles Club converge on Tommel Castle Hotel for a week of serious matchmaking, the clouds roll in. The four couples, carefully matched by dating director Maria Worth, immediately dislike each other. The arrival of Maria's gross, greedy partner, Peta, kills the last vestige of romance. And as love goes out the window, murder comes in the door. Peta soon slurps up her last meal, and Hamish is left with a baffling puzzle: Who shared the fateful outing that left Peta dead with a big red apple in her mouth? Surely not of those singles...

Too many guests at the hotel and not enough villagers for my taste.

Several times whilst reading this great story, I had a touch of Déjà vu, and it seemed like I had read this story before, yet my bookcrossing records showed that I hadn't read this title. It was only when I was halfway through the book that I actually saw the small print on the cover which said it was previously published as "Death of a Glutton". I did read Death of a Glutton in 2014. So I was actually reading the same book again. However, it mattered not, as I was enjoying it so much, so I kept on reading and was glad that I did, as I had forgotten most of it anyway. So I am copying my original review from the first time I read it. Here it is.........
.........Another great tale full of murder and mystery. I liked the descriptiions of gluttonous Peta gorging herself with food. Unfortunately, the thought of eating yet more food lured her to her death before long. However, Hamish was around to solve the murder, as usual.

I will be releasing this book over the Easter period 2017.

I will leave this book on the magazine shelf in the Barista Bar on the Stena Britannica Ferry to Holland. I hope someone will see it and take it home to read. If you are the lucky finder,
then please leave a message to say where you found it. thank you.

Hallo daar, gelukkige vinder!

If you are reading here, then I want to tell you that this is a. FREE . book, and there are no catches! It is now yours! Please read on.....
If you are the finder of this book it would be nice if you could leave a message here to say that you have it. Do not worry because I don't want the book back. It is yours to keep if you want it. I just want to know it is now in safe hands.
