I've never actually heard of Clara Parkes, but this wad a fun little light read. Some of the knitting metaphors ate a bit clunky but there's enough warmth on the writing that I forgave her :)

Ooh thank you for this and the yarns. The silk sari yarn looks really interesting. I have a little idea about that one but will see how it is to hook with. A crocheter for several years, but a knitter since childhood as it runs in my family as a hobby, and professionally for one member as well. As for me I must really up my skills and tackle fair isle and sock knitting next! Xx

Parkes definitely over extends the knitting metaphor, but the warmth of her writing kept me reading. I hadn't heard of her before but I really liked the book, especially the Outed and Aunt Judy chapters.
Passing on to a knitty and crocheter friend. Then will pass on to others.
