I didn't expect to be put in prison, endure mild strangulation, get head-butted, thieve government property or ride on the roof of a vehicle through the Pilbara. Yet, somehow, despite the in-your-face nature of these events, they were nice surprises. It beat the monotony of markbooks with dicks drawn all over them,' said John.

This is one man's hilarious account of his time hitchhiking 15,000 kilometres around Australia in search of adventure and a new way of thinking about life. Along the way he encounters nude walkers, has abuse hurled at him from passing cars, drinks a lot of beer, eats a lot of bananas (going cheap in QLD), sees a lot of road signs and antagonises a lot of people.

He also discovers the enormous generosity of ordinary Australians, and unexpectedly reignites his own passion for life.
