this is the first hemingway i've read - what an athletic narrative style! i liked it for that, and for its old world flavor (pre-WWII), and for the memories it refired in me of the Spaniards.

A bit of a tough book, though - are all his books so hardened? had a hard time relating to it, really. I read in the end that hemingway committed suicide when he was 61 or 62...
