The Long Earth

Another wishlist book I received as a gift over the holidays.
What would happen if we suddenly discovered the existence of an infinite number of parallel Earths, each similar to our own planet, but seemingly uninhabited? What if travel to these parallel worlds was as simple as taking a step? In this creative imagining of this scenario, this infinity of worlds is readily accessible to everyone, and suddenly the 'Long Earth' has become the latest frontier to be explored and settled.
This book explores both the infinite variations possible across the Long Earth and the catastrophic consequences of the sudden massive exodus from the original Earth (the 'Datum Earth'). Many people find the possibilities of disappearing into the Long Earth to tempting to resist, and their decisions to disappear have serious economic and political ramifications.
This book is an imaginative exploration of the endless possibilities of parallel worlds. It is creative and entertaining, but with enough depth to chew on.

This will be available at today's BC-in-DC get together at SoHo Tea and Coffee near Dupont Circle.
This was not claimed at yesterday's sparsely attended event, so it came home with me to await a better attended gathering.
I'm taking this to the next BC-in-DC get together in Old Town Alexandria. Hopefully this month's meeting will be better attended than last month's. :)
Caught at today's BookCrossing meet-up at La Madeleine Restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia, USA. Thank you, ResQGeek.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
A mildly interesting book, not one of Pratchett's best. If you are looking for Pratchett-style wit and humor, this is not that sort of book. It is more straightforward science fiction.
Caught!
Thank you for returning this book. I'll be saving it to go out for Round #2. :)

I had all of this series for my boys to read but not this first volume as I'd taken it out of the library myself. Now the boys can read it starting from the beginning. Thanks.
