"The shocking true stories of history's wickedest, weirdest, most wanton kings, queens, tsars, popes, and emperor's."

"A gleefully gossipy guide to the most unseemly deeds done by and to history's royal highnesses."

A brilliant, funny book about all the naughty royals in history. I absolutely LOVED this book. I saw it at Barnes and Noble and the title drew me in and I couldn't escape from it. I bought it on a whim and finished it the next day. 10 STARS!!!

This book had one major problem for me--I've already heard most of these stories! Still, they were fun to peruse again. I'll send it to mlbish as soon as I get the address.

Journal Entry 4 by mlbish from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA on Sunday, April 4, 2004
This looks like great fun! I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks Czersk, for starting the ring, and thanks Ladyoflight for passing it along!

Wow, this was a great book! I'm so glad you shared, Czersk! TEN STARS!!!!

And authors who are anti-BC, take note: I am now going to have to buy TWO copies of this book. One for myself to keep and one to give to my m-i-l!

I relished every anecdote in this book. I'd heard of some of the stories, but I never really knew about them in any detail. I just loved every single one!!

Sorry I've held this one a little longer than I should have. I got slammed with bookrings and at work all at once. I will pass it on today, right after I photocopy the family trees for my reference in further reading. Those were so so so so helpful!

strange stories of corruption, lust, murder, incest, etc relating to royalty and Popes over the centuries.

Book is on its way to next person

I finished this just before my vacation but didn´t have time to mail it, sorry.

I did enjoy the book, having heard only a few of the stories before. Will now send it to Zarylia asap.

Paynesville/MN/USA - Just got this in the mail from Finland! It looks lovely and Czersk was very excited to see all the signatures. :-D Hopefully I'll be able to read this one soon!

Paynesville/MN/USA - Lovely book, unfortunately I didn't manage to finish it. Things got busy and I figured it wouldn't make sense to take it all the way to Poland only to have to send it back to Virginia so I sent it on unfinished. As Czersk is such a great friend though I'm sure she'll let me borrow it at a later date. ;-P It's really a fun read and definitely puts today's scandals into perspective! Back then it wasn't just blondes who had all the fun, royals had their fair share too! Thanks everyone for passing the book onto me!

Journal Entry 11 by jarrett622 from Clayton, Georgia USA on Friday, August 20, 2004
This was at the PO this morning. I have a few books in front of it but will read it ASAP! :-)

Aug 30. I really enjoyed this book! Well written, it held my interest all the way through. I had kind of put off reading it thinking it wasn't going to be anywhere near as interesting as it was. I recommend this book to everyone. I learned things I never knew, especially about the Popes. That was a real eye opener.

I'll be sending this on to tish2002 as soon as I have an address. :-)

I got this today. It's going to the top of my TBR list.

Journal Entry 13 by tish2002 on Friday, September 24, 2004
One of the most interesting books I've read. I couldn't put it down. What horribly dysfunctional families! It kind of makes you feel better about your own family. LOL
I hadn't even noticed the cover on this book. How observant am I? Leave it to a kid to point it out to me. I turned as red as a stop sign!

Sending to MaryZee

10/11 - Starting on this now.

Journal Entry 15 by wingmaryzeewing from Taneytown, Maryland USA on Tuesday, October 19, 2004
Quick, enjoyable read, although after a while it did get to be alot of the same type of thing.

I especially enjoyed the stories about Henry VIII (had read these when I was younger, but always got all his wives confused), Tsar Nicholas II (I didn't know they exhumed the bodies), and Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine and their clan. Also, naughty, naughty popes. And Catherine the Great.

Sending this on to EMA375 tomorrow, Wednesday 10/20.

Journal Entry 16 by EMA375 on Thursday, November 4, 2004
Looking forward to starting this one! Thanks.

11/13: Great book! I really enjoyed these stories. I have to agree with the others that I knew of a few stories but overall really enjoyed this book. I sent it off to the next person on the list today. Thanks for sharing.

Journal Entry 17 by rubyjules from Clifton Park, New York USA on Monday, November 22, 2004
I got this in the mail today and already started reading it. It is really quite good so far. I keep getting all the Henry's, Louis's, Edward's and whatnot all confused. Hopefully this will help me get them straight.

Thanks so much for sharing!

Journal Entry 18 by rubyjules from Clifton Park, New York USA on Thursday, November 25, 2004
This was great! I really learned a lot. I did know some of the stories, but I never knew just how awful the Roman Emperors and the Popes were! Oh my!!! I will be passing this back to czersk soon.

Thanks for sharing!

Due to the significant amount of time that has gone by since this book was last seen, I have taken the liberty of renewing the ring with another copy of this book that has been graciously donated by JCM. Hopefully, the original copy will show its head one day- and a happy day that will be. Until then, we'll keep the naughty adventures of the world's infamous kings, queens, popes, etc rolling on. Off to Arrietty in Australia!

I adored this book! I loved hearing the stories, but I also really loved the way the author wrote them. He seems to have a dry wit that made the book just that much more entertaining.

This book will be going back to Czersk next week along with a wish list surprise to say sorry I kept this for so long!

Journal Entry 25 by taniazed on Wednesday, October 31, 2007
Took me a little while to find something from Czersk's wishlist. This will be on it's way today!
