When I read this book a couple of decades ago, it helped me understand some of the history and culture of the Middle East. Reading this book helped the news headlines make more sense. It's rare and wonderful when a book can do that!
Last week I found a copy of this book at a charity thrift shop and eagerly snatched it up. I plan to put it in the Little Free Library in front of my house, and hope it opens up some new understanding for one of my neighbors in the same way it did for me.
