When I spotted this in a Rotary sale I just had to have it for bookcrossing.

From back cover:
Tender and wise, intensely thoughtful and consistently entertaining "The Right Attitude to Rain" is shot through with the compassion and unassuming intelligence that have made Alexander McCall Smith's work so beloved and indispensable across the world.

Caught at the Wellington pre-Christmas dinner at Zaika, 17/12/14.

As it rained the whole day and I wanted a light holiday read, I just sat down and read it in one go today.

I enjoy the debates going on in Isabel's head before (or after) she acts. She does, of course, reflect AMS's own morality and views on ethics and he is a product of his age and academic study - comes across as old-fashioned in these days of instant gratification. I look forward to reading what happens next between Isabel and Jamie.

I liked it because it introduced me to Scottish life and their arts, especially their literature. I found the story a bit moralistic but the psychological insights quite interesting. A good holiday read.
