I forgot to update this book status! Whoops! I enjoyed the story it was definitely a creepy thriller!
Received this wishlist book as a RABCK from a super-generous BookCrosser along with a boxful of other wishlist books. Thanks so much, book8!
Wow, a stunning debut from a very talented author. She had me from the very first page, I think. I found the characters to be believable, and the twist near the end--whoa! I have one other book by this author on my TBR shelf, and I look forward even more to reading it now.
Icila chose it in the most recent round of the First Sentences Virtual Bookbox, so it is headed to France.

In the box that I received this morning with 4 books. Thank you !
"On the day she was abducted, Annie O'Sullivan, a thirty-two-year-old realtor, had three goals--sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever-patient boyfriend. The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she's about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all."
Looking forward to the next one, I'm already hooked by the session one.
Edit : Reserved for lamelemon's European Mystery/Crime/Thriller VBB

Reserved for mattandmandy75, for the INTL WishList Tag Game; it is TBR. :)
Currently reading it. :)
A real page-turner indeed!
Annie is kidnapped during an open house; she is a realtor, with a good life, except for a strained relationship with her mother.
What follows is one year with her captor, The Freak (as she calls him), and all the hardships and cruelties she must endure, until she manages to escape (not a spoiler, we know this from the start).
I really liked the mental processes of the main character, and how she manages to endure her ordeal.
The novel is told as a series of flashbacks, intermingled with sessions with her therapist.
There is a final twist to the plot, which comes unexpectedly (at least for me), but makes perfect sense.
A quote I liked:
"There are all these books that say we create our own destiny and what we believe is what we manifest. You're supposed to walk around with this perpetual bubble over your head thinking happy thoughts and then everything is going to be sunshine and roses. Nope, sorry, don't think so. You can be as happy as you've ever been in your life, and shit is still going to happen.
But it doesn't just happen. It knocks you sideways and crushes you into the ground, because you were stupid enough to believe in sunshine and roses."
Very enjoyable; I am glad that the WishList Tag Game finally led me to reading it, after a long time in my bookshelf. Thanks for sending it my way, Icila! :)

This well travelled book is a rather dark, suspenseful, thought provoking read. Held my interest throughout.
