1982 Harper & Row hardcover, with dust jacket, of the collection of stories written 1947-1952. I bought this copy some weeks ago for 25 cents from the sale shelf at Dimond Library.

I can let this go after I read:
1946-1949 More Good Old Stuff (story collection) [read 2012]
1949 Flaw (short story) [read 2012]
1950 The Brass Cupcake [n/a]
1951 Escape to Chaos (novelette) [read 2010]
1951 Murder for the Bride [read 2011]
1951 Judge Me Not [n/a]
1951 Weep for Me [n/a]
1951 (Planet) Wine of the Dreamers (Time and Tomorrow) [read 2015]

Edit May 28, 2017: This is a terrific collection by one of the best hard-boiled writers. Stories from 1947-1952. My only complaint is that the historical effect is utterly ruined, because dates and currency amounts and other minutiae have been changed to fit with this 1982 publication date, and now they are all oddly dated again, this many decades later. I would have much preferred the original historical reference points, in line with the noir story style. As they stand now, with the update changes, they seem anachronistic, because they they are missing the harder edge, cursing, sex, and gore, of the 1970s era in which they have been misplaced. So the effect now is that they come off a bit too light. I currently have this ranked at #525 on my ranked list of best-read books lately.
