This simply told and beautifully illustrated story of the Maid of Orleans is an inspiration. Joan's honesty, faith and courage always touch and hearten me. Her miraculous life has inspired even the most cynical hearts. Mark Twain's novel of Joan's life was his favorite work. As Poole aserts: "A saint is like a star. A star and a saint shine forever."

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Like beloved Joan of Arc, I am a daughter of the Lorraine, though removed by several generations. As bookczuk is building an unofficial bookcrossing zone library in Charleston, I thought it would be fitting for me to contribute this particular book. Part of my family fled the French Revolution to settle in Charleston's French Quarter. One branch of the family left for Mississippi after a couple of generations in Charleston. So for me, Joan fits as a patron saint of Charleston!

Received today in a box of books from cordelia-ann to help stock our library/book exchange/UBCZ. Thank you so much! This will go out on the shelf soon.

Joan of Arc is a character who fascinates me. We visited the place of her martyrdom many years ago, and the town still resonates with her spirit.
