Given to me by a friend for Bookcrossing.
Edgar award winning author I've never heard of before.

Good book. It is very complex, which is appropriate as the character Benjamin Justice himself, is very complex. Growing up in an abusive household, the young Benjamin kills his father when he discovers him raping his sister. From there, his life just gets more complicated. Closeted, than deliciously free to fall in love, he loses his lover to AIDS, and becomes sero-positive himself. Trying to make sense of his lover's death, when so many are falling before the grim tide, Benjamin writes and 'investigative' piece on a couple dealing and losing to AIDS which wins the Pulitzer. It is stripped from him when it is discovered it was a fictionalized piece.

And we haven't even started the mystery yet! Just 50 pages! Okay, I am not going to give away things, but obviously this guy has some issues. I liked this book, I didn't always like Benjamin Justice, but he rarely likes himself. Instead the book slowly watches him make some peace with himself, as he slowly deals with his rage, his loss, and his despair over ruining his life. Yes, there is a future for him, if you want to find out, read the book....

Fly far little book!
