I found this a little hard to get into. The first thirty pages or so were a bit dry even with introducing the navel ship Alice and all of the crew. I think I went back and reread them twice before continuing on. But once the ship started bouncing around in time the story got very interesting. I was pulled into the plight of the crew and their attempts to get back to their time.

The story is a bit dated feeling. But I can totally see why this got a nebula nomination when it was published.
