Waris Dirie was born as a desert nomad in Somalia yet became a well known model. In the books she tells her story, of her childhood and how she left her home and family behind and eventually became famous.
Taken to the local bc meet.
I remembered or guessed right! It was this one of Dirie's books which I haven't read yet.

Well said bur maybe a bit too radical.
She tells about modelling quite a lot. It is hard work. Everybody needs an ageent and all of them are not nice people. She was lucky as she met not the real abusers.

What an interesting book (and life!). There were times I just had to stop reading, I couldn't take any more... She and so many girls suffer so much every day. I found out that Waris Didier has founded "Desert flower foundation" to fight FGM (female genital mutilation). She is also a UN ambassador. I hope this book will be read by many many people.
