A thrilling novel about humanity on the verge of crisis - taking readers from streets of Berlin and Stockholm to a château in the Alps - Chain of Events chronicles washed-up cryptologist William Sandberg's abduction by a mysterious organization that delivers a daunting ultimatum: either William decodes a message that the organization claims will reveal disastrous prophecies hidden in our DNA, or the world as we know it could collapse. William must uncover the truth before it's too late, with the help of an eclectic cast of characters, each unexpectedly ensnared in the organization's web, including William's ex-wife, who is haunted by his disappearance; Janine, a young scientist who has tumbled onto dangerous information; and the man who loves her.

Chain of Events explodes and then reconfigures the ties that bind us to one another: marriage, politics, and our DNA.

This book, which I chose from bookstogive's Mystery VBB, arrived in my mail. Thank you very much, Sonkku, for sending this book to Canada! I love Scandinavian mysteries and am looking forward to reading a work by this author who is new to me.

I enjoyed this book, though I really had trouble accepting the premise and found some parts of the story quite implausible. So, as near-future science-fiction, the novel was a little disappointing. However, as a thriller, it was great. I liked the characters, the suspense, the setting and the pacing. I'd be quite happy to read more from this author. Thanks again to Sonkku for sending me this book and introducing the author to me!

An interesting premise, if a bit far-fetched. Fast-paced and fun.
