I went for this book despite its well-worn condition because the cover was interesting and the premise seemed good too. I don't actually read that much fantasy, and this one definitely didn't hew to the usual cliches about wizards and mysterious ladies and so on-- all good qualities. It's a quick read, and maybe not the most riveting thing ever, but definitely read well with some surprises in store. It's pretty beat up, which makes it a good candidate for rough and tumble travel reading.
