Finally I got around to read this book. This might be a great book, but maybe not for me. It got me depressed sometimes. This book is about 5 women, who belong to a reading group. It tells a little bit about their reading, mainly about their lifes. And well, you could think that the main reason in life is having babies. One of them cannot have children and so she is so upset that all her life is one big mysery that she passes on to her husband. One thinks she can turn a bloody awful marriage into something great by having one more baby. One wants to give up her own happyness for what she thinks best for her daughter and one hates herself for giving a demented mother into a nursing home. I don't know how often there were sentences like "there is no greather love than between a mother and her daughter". Maybe because my mother and me have never been that close and for sure never were something like friends, this book seems so unreal to me. I never wanted children, so actually I did not understand these women very often. Maybe it makes me sad as well, as deep down I missed a life with a happy family.
Anyway, some years ago I read "The Tenko Club" written by Elizabeth Noble and I enjoyed that much more.

The book arrived safely yesterday. Thank you so much :-)
February 2021:
I enjoyed reading the book very much. A couple of women in their mid-years meet once a month for talking about a book they have all read. But they also talk about their lives, their families, their problems. Some have closer friendships. I think the plot could just happen in real life and I loved the atmosphere of warmth and humour. And it was interesting to see which books were chosen by the reading group.
