As a native of Memphis here in the United States, I have always been fascinated by Egyptian mythology. So I couldn't resist picking this book up at a thrift shop a few months ago. I was especially interested that these were compiled by the British folklorist Roger Lancelyn Green, who studied under C.S. Lewis and with him and J.R.R. Tolkein was a member of the famous Inklings group of the 1930 and 40s. Green is more well known for his works of British lore, including retellings of the stories of Robin Hood and King Arthur. He also compiled stories from Classic and Norse myth for children.

I sampled many of the tales here and found them interesting. Figures from Classical Antiquity like Helen of Troy sometimes appear. Two new 3,500 year-old tombs have just been uncovered in the Egyptian city of Luxor. Important new discoveries are expected. So this book is suddenly timely. I plan to release it soon.
