CERN Institute, Switzerland: a world-renowned scientist is found brutally murdered with a mysterious symbol seared onto his chest.

The Vatican, Rome: the College of Cardinals assembles to elect a new pope. Somewhere beneath them, an unstoppable bomb of terrifying power relentlessly counts down to oblivion.

In a breathtaking race against time, Harvard professor Robert Langdon must decipher a labyrinthine trail of ancient symbols if he is to defeat those responsible - the Illuminati, a secret brotherhood presumed extinct for nearly four hundred years, reborn to continue their deadly vendetta against their most hated enemy, the Catholic Church.

I was given this book by my brother when he was clearing out his old room at our mums house. I don't know if he ever read it but I think he picked it up in a charity shop in Woodbridge. I took the book home to bramfield near Halesworth and have read it cover to cover. Loved it. Want to read the series now.
I will be releasing this book back into the wild but not until I've read it at least once more. Good books should make journeys, and spread their stories and messages far and wide. They should be given and received and find homes in every walk of life. But the best books should be thumbed through, read and re-read, lent to friends, read aloud in snippets and gobbets and shared with family. This is not an ordinary books but one of those rarer latter.
