I just have this odd single edition of the manga and recently reread it. I thought it was excellent but will not read it again any time soon. Time for others to enjoy it.

Taking along to the next meetup for the Supernatural/Fire theme. It's dark, slightly gothic although set in the contemporary world. Suspend your disbelief and start from the back!

Picked up at the York Bookcrossing Meetup, Brigantes Bar, York, 28th October. I know the artist, Takeshi Obata, from a harmless little series about playing Go. I suspect this may be a bit different.

First volume of the cult manga serial. Light, a straight-arrow Japanese high-school student gains the power to kill anyone he wants, just by writing their name in a mysterious notebook.
I liked this much more than I expected- the premise was a bit offputting. The story gets started rather hastily- Light just finds the book on the ground and next thing you know he's killing criminals and Interpol are trying to track him down. This does at least mean we hit the moral and philosophical issues straight on. The artwork is clear and quietly stylish.
