Read A year in the merde a long time ago and loved it! One of the few English writing about living in France who actually totally gets it. I have been meaning to read the sequel ever since so lmn60 made my day when she put it in my hands today! Very much looking forward to it.

Read it! It turns out that this book was on my wishlist, too. Like the first instalment, lots of very funny acutely observed bits and pieces about the French - and the Brits, too, but there was too much about chasing up and making up with the ex-girlfriend to my taste. So it's a "good but not as good as the first one" from me, I'm afraid. Stephen Clarke is a very funny writer, still, and I had plenty of giggles.
