This is the only book I have read by Margaret Atwood, and I'm looking forward to reading another. When I care about the characters, I know I've found a good book.

My first bookring! :)

First I want to apologize for hanging on to this book for so long..I did have a few other books to read before I could get to this one, but once I did, I couldn't get into it...the story line is a bit confusing and usually I can figure them out, but I guess because my life is pulling me in every which way, I couldn't tie the story down, so without finishing it, I am sending to scrappy today.

I enjoyed reading this book though it is not from my usual genre. Thanks for hosting a bookring for this one, bookbugger.

I mailed the book off to libragirl in New Zealand. Enjoy!

This book arrived today. It is one of the first book rings I applied for. Awaited with anticipation. I am nearly finished with my current book and will start this one next. Nice bookmark - was this supplied by bookbugger? I hope it makes it back to you with the book.

I am finding this book hard to keep my attention and interest, I will keep reading for another week or so but will get the address for the next in line so that if I am still struggling I will forward on to keep things moving.

By 11 August I was still reading this book and had finally come to grips with the story line and where I thought it was heading, then I had to keep reading to make sure I was on the right track - I was the outcome was as expected but worth it at the finish. I am glad I kept going as i can now say that I did enjoy the book and can see why it won the Booker Prize. I already have the next address so it is off in the post today. Thanks for sharing book-bugger. PS. boomark is still travelling with the book and it has been signed as requested.

This arrived in the post today. I am very much looking forward to reading it. It will go to the top of my to be read pile, though I have to get through another 400 pages of a book I am currently working through, so it may take me a week or two to get started on it. I will try not to delay its progress too long though. Thanks to libragirl for sending it along!

I have to say - this is the first Atwood book I have ever really truly enjoyed. I appreciated and understood the characters (even though I could rarely relate), I found the style new and interesting (the story within the story and figuring it all out...the newsclippings and what they had to contribute), and the language was vivid and affecting. It was one of those books that I felt both satisfied and sad to end.
Over the years I have heard a lot about Atwood, as she is quite well known for her contributions to Canadian literature...and I have tried several times before to enjoy her writing but to no avail - and finally with the blind assassin I have! Thanks very much for sharing this book. I will PM the next person on the list and get it on its way soon.
