An outstanding novel. Paul Auster at his best, writing about stories within stories (and within stories). A novelist recovers from a serious illness and tries to write again in a strange notebook.
It grips you from the very first page and you feel unable to put the book aside until you turn the last one.

A wonderful book. Paul Auster 100%.
Something so usual in Paul Auster's work: the epiphany, that moment when a character decide to give up all his former life. The syncronious chance...
I love notebooks as well, I wrote my impressions about this book in a blue one (probably mine is not from Portugal but blue anyway. When I saw it in the shelf of the store I couldn't help to buy it, a bit like Sid...

Kind and faithfully, as all the auster's books I've read. It’s a mix between magic, hope, reality and literature that makes you thing and fell.

I have found very interesting the way he put a novel into another, and how an object can be powerful.

The are a pair of thing that I have don’t understand very well, for example what happens to Chang, what’s his importance in the history (I’m not talking about the notebook).

Now I will continue the ring and give it to Grial.

I agree with you. Although this is a story within a story, I suspect that
the entire narrative is another story within an implied story.
This novel confirms Auster's reputation as one of the boldest, most original
writers at work in America today.

Well, it has been my first "Auster's" and I have enjoyed quite much reading it, despite of the fact that it was more than 14 years since last time I read somethg in english ( as far as I can remember, it was on 1990 when I read "the pillars of the earth" at the Underground of London). So, a difficult handicap that I have suceeded.

I'm looking forward to read more novels by Auster but... in spanish, pls!! :-))

Today the book has been delivered to Auster ( the bookcrosser, not the writer!)by Post.

People told me so many good things about Paul Auster, but I've been disappointed a bit. Even if it was quite pleasant to read (even though the huge notes at the bottom of the pages), I just didn't get the point. What is it about ? Is it about misfortune ? Is it about coincidences ? Is it about mysticism ? I don't get it. The story (I'd rather say the stories) is going in many different directions at the same time, and nothing really ends...

Thank you anyway !
