When I began this book,I thought "What a bit of rubbish!" Well,I was wrong and enjoyed the book so much that I could hardly put it down. The story involves a hard working girl who is the ward of a well known man-about-town. When they finally meet, the heroine,Henrietta Barrett , known as Henry, learns that William Dunford is the wealthy owner of the estate that she has lived on and worked on for years. The story takes them from Dunford's country estate in Cornwall to the high society of London where "Henry" has to leave her rural life and manners behind. It is a beautifully written story and I loved it. I would give it 9 stars and maybe even 10!
