It was by no means my favourite Pratchett offering: Clay; Guards! Guards!; The Night Watch; Bromeliad 1; Darwin's Guard were much much better. This novel had great moments, but it also had some slow moments, and for once, too many characters. No wonder Moist was completely lost at some moments!

I loved the Chairman! His image in the cover was exactly how I imagined him. And Moist, he wasn't nothing as how I was envisioned him! How could the artist get him so wrong? I loved Gladys and every golem which appeared throughout, but Igor made me impatient. The family of bankers, the Lavishes, should have appeared more prominently, to tell you the truth and eliminate some other secondary characters.

PLOT: Lord Vetinari wants Moist to take over the Bank and the Mint. They still have a system linked to the gold standard, but Moist thinks that it shouldn't be like that; in fact, the post has become so reliable that stamps are used as money by Ank-Morphorkians. He is getting restless and bored, so Vetinari takes the decision for him before his fiancée takes the decision for him. The thing is that Moist inherits 50% of the shares, and his dog, Mr Fusspot a further 1%, which effectively makes... the dog Chairman.
