I am simply overwhelmed with books. There's nothing to do now but a massive book culling. As it is, even if I live to a grand old age and remain completely healthy, there is no way I would be able to read as many books as I have placed on my "To Be Read" pile here at home. This one book book is part of that massive culling.

Sweet travels, little book, and good luck in finding a welcoming reader.

Journal Entry 5 by wingSqueakyChuwing at Starbucks - Frontier Drive in Springfield, Virginia USA on Monday, March 5, 2018

Released 6 yrs ago (3/17/2018 UTC) at Starbucks - Frontier Drive in Springfield, Virginia USA

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I'm releasing this book in conjunction with a BCinDC (my local BookCrossing group) meetup today. This Starbucks has an OBCZ (Official BookCrossing Zone) so it's a great meet-up place...except that I dislike Starbucks coffee intensely and would prefer green beer today instead. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Picked up at yesterday's BCinDC meetup in Springfield, VA. Looks interesting.

I tried this first on audio but simply could not follow the plot, so I tried again on paper and found it a little bit easier. The trouble is that it's written like a 19th century novel, with excessively long sentences that require multiple readings (and often dictionary checks) in order to decipher. It's tiring and takes me out of the action. I'm sure it's a rollicking adventure for people who can keep up with the language. For me it was slog with occasional fun bits.

I've only read one Chabon novel (Summerland) and I enjoyed it. I have another one on my TBR mountain, and I'll see whether I get to this one in any reasonable time frame. If not, I'll release it.
