There is definitely a lot to be said about this book, but it's a bit hard to process. There is a lot of desperation and atmosphere, but the characters' stories are sometimes hard to follow because there are more pronouns than names.
On names, though: this book is a cornucopia of Polish place names. It adds to the sense of place and gives a good overwhelming, labyrinthine feel to the city and the story.
This book was a nice challenge, taking me quite a few weeks because I had to take a lot of breaks. It was a little forgettable and I don't know that I can recommend it, but it was a useful experience.
