I got this softcover during a sale at Newbury Comics. This is the author's version of an actual travel diary, laden with illustrations and text about the places he visits. I found it very charming, with images of people and places, and notes about his travels, his job, the people he encounters, art works he sees, and much more (including, at times, funny/gross comics depicting some of the more unpleasant aspects of travel - "Travel diarrhoea - less fun than depicted here!"). He visits Paris, Marrakesh, the Alps, the south of France, Barcelona - quite a contrast!

Along the way he often goes into a funk, usually over his recent breakup with his girlfriend; meeting attractive women from other countries helps, but some of the passages feature him wandering colorful streets while being very, very sad and homesick. Luckily, this doesn't usually last very long...

I really enjoyed this look at his life and travels, as well as the chats with other artists. Fascinating book!

I left this book on the book-swap shelf in the coffee shop at around 4:30 or so; hope the finder enjoys it!
