I am a map addict myself so couldn't resist picking up this book at the bookcrossing meet at The Forester's Arms last night. Thank you.

Finally got around to reading this and enjoyed it though there were a couple of sections I found less interesting. I particularly liked the last chapter about exploring without a map. The author, like me, finds it difficult to let go of the safety of a map in hand. Encouraged to do more 'wild' walking.

I also found the politics of world geography interesting and pertinent for today despite being published 7 years ago. The author writes of the increasing insularity of many people rather than an open, accepting philosophy where the world is an exciting place.

Taking to a meeting of fellow bookcrossers at a new venue for us - The Running Mare pub. I have someone in mind who may be interested in this book.
