Brilliant. THE book of 2003? That's to be debated but engender debate is something this wonderful book does. And amongst my friends at least, polarises opinion. Beautiful, sad, occasionally funny, but HUMAN... yet at the same time beyond human. Wishful and fantastic, but full of hope as well.
And that's just reading it. A novel, the story of a murdered girl, written from her heaven watching her family, friends, living on in grief and sorrow and pain without her ... healing and sad.
Read it.

Woowoo! Just checked the mailbox after coming home after some cocktails (Yes..thats two nights in a row!) to find Lovely Bones. You are a star Ben! Thank-you sooooo much!! I'm really looking forward to reading it. I think it will be one of the first books I read on my way to London.

I finally finished reading it! Nothing like a few train rides into London to get some reading time in. I did enjoy this book tho it slowed down in parts. I almost cried at the end but as I was on a train I tried not too :) Was a beautiful read.

Picked up at today's Surrey meet from Kuju. I've been wanting to read this for a long time, having heard so much about it so thankyou.

I'm tempted to start on this immediately, but will see if I can hold off & take it to Portugal with me.

I've just packed this up into a box of books I'm taking toPortugal, where I will read it myself, offer it up to my friends, and eventually release into the wild. So it will become a truly internationally travelled book!

I've put this post in now as I am unlikely to be able to journal it's travels again until I get home.

A completely wonderful book which I'll have to score 10/10 as there was nothing to drag it down.

I did promise to wild release it in Portugal, but it was far too good to risk getting 'lost' so I've hung onto it with the intention of finding it a new home. It's still in Portugal right now, but it should be back with me soon & I'll offer it up then.

I make an edit after reading all the travels of this amazing book: it's now in Geneva, not far from the Lake. We had snow yesterday and today the snow remains, the lake is green with waves, the jet d'eau (what's the name waterspring ?) is off because of the icy wind.

I loved this book. Sometimes I didn't know if I would drop it because it was too sad or if I would go on because I wanted to know all about Susie and her family. But at the end, you're rather full of hope, even if it's sad hope. I kept thinking while reading of the death of my grandfather and the signs he seemed to give us at the time (sorry if I sound strange but maybe some will understand what I mean...and I'm not like Ruth, seeing dead people all the time...but I believe in signs) and of a family I know, whose boy has been killed when he was 18 years old by the mad guru of a sect. It was before my birth but the mother is my grandmother best friends and my uncle and mother were friends with this boy. He has been missing for more than 20 years and then his body was discovered. Well, what I really want to say is that we, even I who never had the opportunity, to meet him, never forgot him.
(Maybe this is the strangest JE I've ever made but this book has really moved me).
Janetleisure told me she doesn't want to be in the ring anymore so I'm contacting the next bookcrosser.

Got this in the mail yesterday and I am very much looking forward to reading it.

Wow, I really loved this book. It was definitely sad, but not as sad as a book about a murdered girl could be. It was also very sweet and hopeful. I loved the her perspective from heaven on everybody and their relationships and how they changed after her death. It was also an interesting story for me because I lost my brother in a car accident when he was 16 and I was 18 (our other brothers were 21 and 22). Mailed out 6/24/05 to dionnelynn.
