i'm a fan of fumi yoshinaga. this is a collection of 5 shorts. the first two are the longest and most entertaining, while the other three aren't as satisfying (the last two of which aren't that yaoi). a nice read, but i'll be adding it to gorydetails' yaoi bookbox.
How long will it take

This book is coming as a kind of Thank you for the Stain book series you sent! :)
You're always so gracious, so it's only right that some of that gets returned to you! ;)

The box-o-books arrived safely today, and, yes, has given quite a boost to my TBR piles - many thanks! I love Yoshinaga's work, too, and look forward to this collection.
Later: From Yoshinaga's romantic artwork to her characters' often-hilarious squabbling, this was great fun. We have the odd-couple Tadashi and Kouhei, a complication in the form of a prospective arranged-marriage bride for Kouhei (she's a delightfully awkward young woman whom I liked at once, a rarity in these circumstances - usually the woman is introduced as something of a villain in a yaoi story), an amusing twist when Kouhei learns that Tadashi's not quite the impoverished waif he's been pretending to be, and - of course - some very hot scenes between our heroes. (I also liked the cute omake strips on the cover-flaps, with Tadashi trying to get Kouhei to say that he loves him.)
"My Eternal Sweetheart" is an increasingly bizarre tale that opens with a young boy isolated in a remote mansion due to illness and then escalates into more and more kinkiness as he demands a love-bot with which to while away his time. Pretty kinky stuff here, and yet it manages to be rather touching as well as creepy.
"Fairyland" is even more Twilight-Zone-ish, in that "be careful what you wish for" way.
"One May Day" - well, that one is very different, and unexpected in a yaoi collection as the only couple is a very hetero one. Its delicate depiction of a very unequal match was quite memorable.
"Pianist" does a nice take on the lovelorn-artist-with-a-dream concept, and then gives it a good strong twist; this one was quite refreshing, in a tart sort of way.
Good collection!

I really enjoyed this collection of one-shot stories. I liked the variety in tone and character designs, we get a lot of characters who aren't your average gorgeous manga waif, in fact Tadashi's looks are a bit of a running joke.
"Don't Say Any More, Darling" is light-hearted and silly romantic drama, with a love-triangle I actually found pretty fun.
"My Eternal Sweetheart" starts out with a fairly traditional sex-bot tale, and then starts taking on some darker turns, ending up in a pretty creepy place.
"Fairyland" is short, but manages to work in a few twists even with so few pages.
"One May Day" is an unusual tale in that the main character is a older man, the romance seems to be a rebound after the death of his wife. It is quite a sad story, of falling and out of love.
"Pianist" is the story of a man who was a well-known performer in his youth, but is struggling with his declining popularity, depression, and life as a middle-aged man instead of a head-turning star when he gets to know a college student living his apartment and cautiously tries to strike up something more than friendship.
