No idea why I've bought this. Maybe because it was 10p at a boot sale & I can't resist a bargain?

Journal Entry 2 by Kleptokitty on Thursday, August 26, 2004
Umitigated bollocks*. I made it to page 6. I should have saved up and bought a Curly Wurly instead.

* But that's just my opinion!

A warm thanks to Kleptokitty for this book. My to-be-read list grows all the time I started reading Danny Yates Must Die immediately though. After the first 60 pages I had to stop, The Gingerbread Man was more important.
I really like the weird story, the funny caracters, starting with breast-addict Lucy, beautiful Teena Rama, the Great Osmosis with the bucket stuck to his head and his paranoid idea to kill Danny Yates. It’s gorgeous! I guess my parallel-reading The Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy helped a lot opening my mind and fantasy for this weird book. Hopefully it’s story stays that extraordinary.
It did.

As I wanted to share the book with others I decided to make it a ring.

This is really a great book!
Funny, weird, strange, completely unbelievable and utterly enjoying :)

I'm now giving it to KatColorado, following the ring.

Journal Entry 9 by KatColorado from Zürich, Zürich Switzerland on Friday, March 11, 2005
I got this book which is also a bookring from ScarletBea today at our Spontimeetup. I will read it as soon as I've finished the book I'm reading at the moment...

Journal Entry 10 by KatColorado from Zürich, Zürich Switzerland on Sunday, March 13, 2005
I'm more with Kleptokitty, I can't go on reading it, otherwise my face will fall asleep. I read until chapter ten, but I just don't see it getting any better.

I can see Lucydiamond's point, that reading this book parallel with the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy might improve it. I love the Hitchhiker, that's a book where I couldn't stop laughing out loud, but Danny Yates and his friends... No, sorry, not for me ;-)

Got the book from Vargas on Friday. I already started to read it. First I was mostly confused but with every chapter I get more into it and start to enjoy it more..

Journal Entry 14 by verenka from Wien - irgendwo / Vienna - somewhere, Wien Austria on Friday, May 27, 2005
Judging from the previous entries, you either love or hate this book. I was tempted to give up on it after the first couple of chapters. It was simply too surprising and too confusing in the beginning and I couldn't follow the many different lines of storytelling. But just about as everything falls to pieces in Danny Yates' life, the puzzle's pieces finally fall into place and the story starts to make sense. well, as much sense as a story can have where the main character and anti-hero is chased by Osmosis, his former employer who wears a bucket stuck to his head.
Keep reading and you won't regret it! It's unusual, but hilarious and worth reading.
Have contacted auglaise for her/his address and will send out the book as soon as I have it.

Received today. Thank you!

This book was completely random, and I'm still not sure exactally about the ending. I did however, enjoy reading it, and was glad I got the opportunity! I thought the bit about the rats with the ears taped on was brilliant, and thought that Osmosis being nothing but a puff of smoke at the end was great. Thanks very much for sharing it with me, and I'll be passing it along as soon as I'm able.

I have an open mind when it comes to fiction, I have a great love of the more bizarre authors such as Adams, Rankin and Pratchett, but I am afraid I have to agree with Kleptokitty. Umitigated bollocks sums this book up in two words. I don't see how reading this book in parallel with any good book can improve it at all.

This one is obviously going to be the literary equivalent of Marmite - love it or hate it.

Sent to bacicoline.

I found it in my letterbox monday morning...

Journal Entry 21 by bacicoline from Paris, Ile-de-France France on Thursday, October 27, 2005
well !
this book is absolutely crazy !
I don't know how to say it in English but in French, I would say that this is an "absurde" story

As my English and my English culture are not so good, I'm not sure if I understood every hint but I enjoyed reading it. And this is a typically bookcrossing book as I am sure I would never have bought it !!

Thank you for making me discover it.

I ask for the next's address and send it as soon as possible !

Journal Entry 23 by chich from Ibiza - Sant Antoni de Portmany, Illes Balears/Islas Baleares Spain on Saturday, November 26, 2005
This book doesn't make any sense. I loved reading it!! I absolutely love absurd books, this was one of the bests and very unlike anything I'd read before!

And to say it all started because Danny (or is it Gary?) used an industrial stapler: "Rattits", a foot fetishist accountant-turned-monster, a giant alien ant obsessed with dominating the world, nuns with a penchant for sea horses, comics, a toe-slicing pedicure, a vilain with a bucket stuck to his head, a mad scientist so attractive she has to drug people so they don't fall for her...

This book is wacky wacky wacky! Thanks a lot for sharing Diamondlucy!

Updated 3rd December '05: book sent today to spaceystacey.

Journal Entry 24 by spaceystacey from Bridgeton, New Jersey USA on Friday, December 9, 2005
Received in the post on Tuesday of this week. Just got around to posting. Will be reading this one over Christmas Holidays I hope and then sending on its journey.

Mixed reviews here. Can't wait to see what I think of it.

10/31/2007 A truly weird book. The story begins with a general conversation between a customer and a staff person at a local comic book shop. Though, warned about the stapling, the staff person continues to display in this manner and the shop collapses. Danny Yates wakes up six months later in a hospital.

The rest of the read follows Danny on adventures that are totally far fetched. Not my usual read but I did enjoy it.

11/5/2007 posting back to the originator of the bookring today with a great big: "thank you for sharing this one!"

Dear spaceystacey,

I've been contacting you throughout the last year, please READ the book or else FORWARD it to candieb NOW (if she still wants to read it that is)...

It really annoys me that I get the replies you will pass it on soonest and still nothing has happened ... or like recently not getting any replies anymore.

THIS IS A BOOKRING, PLEASE SEND THE BOOK TO THE NEXT PARTICIPANT!

Journal Entry 26 by Suureal from Graz, Steiermark Austria on Thursday, November 15, 2007
OMG, I don't think I can believe it, guess what! I got the book back, after almost 2 years of being lost...

Thanks SpaceyTracey for digging it out and sending it back! I am so not going to give this out of my hands anymore :-)
