Loved this book. The first in the DCI Karen Pirie series. A brilliant character with great plot lines. A bit of a female maverick who has no respect for her commanding officer who tries his utmost to drop her in it at every opportunity but Karen Pirie is much too savvy and outwits him every time!

Some great writing and on the thriller front Val McDermid never fails to engage interest.

Amazed to find the book on my usual Sunday walk. Bit slow with reading but this one kept me interested. Light, easy to read and great story. Thoroughly enjoyed it
