Journal Entry 4 by Sonny-nz from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Wednesday, February 4, 2004
Finished this book in record time! Wondered how the book would live up to the great movie, but it SO much better, really hard to beleive this is a true story - the things Frank got away with!! I really enjoyed this easy to read book, I am now passing it on to SHAZA to enjoy.
Great read - hard to believe that it was true. Have handed over to wapiti-nz
Got to page 144 skimmed the rest - thought a bit silly!

CAUGHT IN CHRISTCHURCH CANTERBURY NEW ZEALAND
Arrived with me in Australia, today!
Frank's exploits are amusing, yet wrong, and yet, I found myself willing him not to get caught! I remember that feeling throughout the movie too. The ultimate underdog, although the psych in me wanted a little more hardship in his childhood years to justify such delinquency, and the display of what happens when you tell lie after lie...just how big it can really get!
The daring, and the luck! Many of his deeds had me laughing out loud...which is terrible - all terribly illegal. I guess he sums up this attitude with his justifications that he never ripped off individuals, only big corporations, who were all heavily insured. Well, and then the hospital. And his legal clients!!
I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of grace our adventurous Frank took to his prison experiences - I mean, what did he expect??!! Yes, the French prisons was unimaginable hardship, but he continually commented on his crimes and his guilt throughout. He was all too aware of the magnitude of the crimes he was committing, as he was committing them. I thought he should have toughed all that out without complaint - I mean, he ripped off so many people for so much money! The affluent lifestyle he swindled for himself!!
A fast and enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing this around!

What a fantastic book! I’ve seen the film, and enjoyed the eye-wateringly delicious DiCaprio, but was immensely frustrated by the ‘why’ and ‘hows’, all of which are explained in glorious detail in the book.
What an extraordinary true story. I am still gaping in astonishment.
Thank you *so* much libragirl for the opportunity to read this.
(Catch me if you can is en route to Jaysgirl as of today.)

Sorry - This book arrived last week but I have only just got around to registering it. Nothing on the go at the moment so I can get right into it.
After watching the movie I really looked forward to reading this book and all I can say is I wasn't dissappointed.
It was very easy to read and once started hard to put down.
I will pass it onto the next B/cer as soon as I get her details.
Thanks for including me in this ring.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES:
The book arrived in the post! It would have been a long journey in the dark from San Diego California. Leapt out of the parcel into the hot summer which is a perfect time for reading this light and lively tale. Once again, truth is so much stranger than fiction.
Written almost as a boys own adventure; this tone works well just so long as one ignores the reality of the matter - so much money stolen (so we get higher bank fees), so many innocent lives ruined by people who got fired because of his actions.
Contacting next on the list today.
