Like most Manhattanites, aspiring artist Tate can't resist a good rental deal-even if it's in the city's strangest neighborhood, Golgotham, where for centuries werewolves, centaurs, and countless other creatures have roamed the streets.
Her new landlord is a sorcerer name Hexe, who is determined to build his reputation without using dark, left-hand magic. As Tate is drawn into Hexe's fascinating world, they both find that the right hand does not always know what the left hand is doing-and avoiding darkness is no easy trick...

I really enjoyed this book. It was a good introduction to this alternate New York City with it's ghetto for the magically inclined races. I loved that magic had been around since the founding of the United States. In so many of these paranormal urban fantasies magic is a secret hidden thing. It was refreshing to have magic out in the open and having influenced history of the world.

I noticed that this had been returned to the book swap shelves in the vending lounge. I owe a book to Loriped for the paranormal Devils swap. So rather than wait to send a to be read book, I am picking this back up from the wild. I hope she and her mom haven't read it and enjoy the book as much as I did.
I'm sending this to KarhyB for her paranormal Devils month.
I'm really looking forward to this book as the character sounds like another I really enjoy, Allie Beckstrom by Devon Monk. I like a little grit in my paranormal stories.
