Kind gift from islevamp because I have living a deprived life thus far. S. Morgenstern's story of Westley and Buttercup, abridged by W. Goldman. I missed the bandwagon on this. Didn't see the film until later and now reading the book much later, the cult caché of it passed me by. This story didn't leave an imprint on me simply because I didn't experience it at the right time with the right peers, though I do have an unfortunate tolerance for side ponytails and zippers in unnecessary places. I still have never seen The Neverending Story, and look forward to the day because I am pretty sure I will think it is absolute rubbish.

Back to TOC when done, as this edition includes previously unreleased material that must be experienced by those who are already familiar with the book.

To TOC, 10/25/14.

This is an old favorite: I read it long before the movie came out. I'm surprised to see that I don't have any other copies on my bookshelf yet.

I will read and return at a future get-together: thank you!

Fun to re-read; the bit about "Buttercup's Baby" hits just the right tone.

(Not positive, but I suspect the edition I first read was the one with the overalls on the cover.)

I'll save this to take back to TOC, just in case.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

This book went to our lovely TOC holiday lunch at Du Vin and didn't come home with me. Not sure if it went to someone in our group, another restaurant guest, one of the staff...or if it stayed on the table when we left. At any rate, I hope it found a new reader today.

Released for Secretariat's 2014 Never Judge a Book By Its Cover Challenge (week 52) and msrubble's 2014 movie challenge.
