I really enjoyed this book. The first 50 pages was set in France 1917 and related to Sophie Lefevre whose artist husband was fighting in the war and had left behind a portrait of his wife, called The Girl You Left Behind, that he had painted when they first met. The next part was set in present day England and related to Olivia (Liv) who was a widow but now in possession of the painting of Sophie which had been gifted to her by her husband on their honeymoon ten years prior. The life of Liv seemed to reflect a little of Sophie's, in a manner of speaking, and it was good to get a positive resolution at the end of the book. It did not disappoint!
