It was a very elegant edition and I wanted to read this as soon as someone brought it at the Skyros Bookcrossing Buffet of 2014. It was a good and honest book. It's a memoir, a biography and not a novel so one can never be sure if this is how things relly happened. But it does point to the conclusion of the word playingQ the war is a queer thing. And a queer is not that queer in a war eventhough the world in early '40s was not that keen on queers. Can't say if the incidents with Picasso, Thomas Mann and Gertrude Stein were real or were exaggerated to give more splendor to the writer's military service. It was a good read anyway although the use of language and choice of words were too extravagant and far-fetched. "Lord Jim" the book of Conrad that is mentioned in the book because of the resemblance to the writer's name is on me bedside table. Maybe I' ll read it at last.
