Couldn't believe my luck at spotting this in a charity shop.

I'm really loving this crime series set in Shetland. I like the new character of Willow introduced in this book. This had a good story and I had NO IDEA who the murderer was.

I LOVE this series...& its one of the few I've actually read in order. I'm still reeling from the shocking ending of "Blue Lightning" so this won't be on my TBR long - thanks bookfrogster!

Journal Entry 5 by wingPlum-crazywing at Brighouse, West Yorkshire United Kingdom on Monday, January 25, 2016
After the shock events of "Blue Lightning" Jimmy Perez is taking a bit of a back seat & newcomer/visitor DI Willow Reeves takes lead in this investigation. Luckily she's an interesting character & I hope we see more of her .....& am I sensing some chemistry between the pair of them or is that wishful thinking? Early days for Perez I guess, so I'll have to wait & see.

The good storyline & believable characterisations help make this another atmospheric read in this series. What I particulary like, other than the wonderful evocative descriptions of Shetland, is that although it is a series, the stories work well on their own so someone new to them can start with this & not be struggling to follow things (though incidentally it happens to be one of the few series I've read the right order!)

Looking forward to the next instalment.
