"Maarten Troost has charmed legions of readers with his laugh-out-loud tales of wandering the remote islands of the South Pacific. When the travel bug hit again, he decided to go big-time, taking on the world’s most populous and intriguing nation. In Lost on Planet China, Troost escorts readers on a rollicking journey through the new beating heart of the modern world, from the megalopolises of Beijing and Shanghai to the Gobi Desert and the hinterlands of Tibet. "

This was both entertaining and enlightening, a really good read! One of those travel books that make me wish his trip would have been longer, because I'm kind of going to miss it. And it was particularly amusing how after some Chinese cities Hong Kong seemed like a peaceful village to him, whereas for myself it must be the most crowded place I've ever been to. Can't wait to see the "real" Chinese cities then :D

Very good travel book - lots and lots of information, but also lighter parts and humour. China is one of the countries that I've been interested for a long time, so this was a perfect read!

Thank you, Chania! Went to China with my family July 2015, visited Beijing and Shenyang. Didn't get lost, though... I guess we just had good guides!
