Soulless: The Manga, Vol. 1
2 journalers for this copy...
HGH95 was weeding some of her books out and gave me some she didn't want anymore. I've read this a couple times before, and a review I wrote of it can be found on this copy. Re-reading it, my opinion is about the same: it is alright, but a watered-down version of a much spunkier novel.
This book is headed for adventures in the LGBTQ+ Bookbox
I'm taking this from the bookbox. I read and enjoyed it a while back, and want to offer this set to my niece to see how she likes it.
I first got the manga after being curious about the original novels, and thinking the manga adaptation might be a good entry point. And I thoroughly enjoyed it - a lively story, amusing and entertaining dialog and plot twists, a heroine who's strong-willed, intelligent, and great at snarky remarks (not to mention her supernatural abilities, which cause some very funny scenes - and one extremely touching one), and some characters that I dearly want to learn more about (especially Lord Akeldama and Professor Lyall).
I eventually did read the novels and liked those too, finding that the manga adaptations are pretty faithful to the originals - even if they do have to leave out quite a bit.
[There's a TV Tropes page for the series, with lots of entertaining info; just beware of spoilers!]

I gave these three volumes to my niece in New York. Enjoy!
