At the age of 19 Princess Alais of France is sent to live at the court of Henry II and Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine and is bethrothed to their son Richard.
Eleanor takes Alais under her wing and begins training her for her future roll, but she soon catches the eye of the King and becomes his mistress. It seems Henry will put aside Eleanor and make Alais his new Queen, but Alais soon learns the trugh the Henry does not honor the vows he makes and she must make a decision that changes the course of her life.
This was a good read and I enjoyed it.

Picked this up on board Carnival Conquest cruise ship library. Fast reading and I learned something new while reading this. Went back home to see if history was correct and surprised that some of it was! This book travels fast, near and far, and kept me amused during quiet moments on a deck chair.
