I found this fair-condition softcover at the Used Book Superstore in Burlington MA. It's the second of a 3-volume series by former CLAMP member Akiyama.

Later: I'd hung on to this in hopes of picking up the other two volumes, but decided I'd better read and release this one. It has a lengthy story-so-far page in front (though the font's tiny and the contrast made it hard for me to read), and a considerable cast of characters for a short series. The artwork's pretty, and I appreciated bits such as the summoning of a huge (and studly) oni as one character's henchman.

There's a star-crossed-lovers subplot, and lots of curses/alliances/vendettas involved, with who's-really-a-monster elements thrown in - so, yeah, a somewhat-typical fantasy plot. It felt a bit sketchy to me, but there were some very handsome and dramatic scenes here and there.

I plan to donate this book to the ongoing charity-sale shelves inside Hannaford at around 3:30. (They sell donated books for low prices, with the proceeds going to local charities.) Hope the buyer enjoys the book!
