The Long War

I don't know why I bothered buying this, considering I didn't really enjoy the first book in the series. I think I was still hoping that because Terry Pratchett was a co-author it would be good. But it wasn't :-(
Oh, it's ok science fiction, but it's not spectacular, and it doesn't even have the advantage of the first book of having a new and interesting idea - it's just more of the same, really. And Stephen Baxter's voice, which I've never found particularly interesting, totally overrides Pratchett's.
Probably if it didn't have Pratchett's name on the cover I would have just enjoyed it for what it is - competently done old-school science fiction. But my expectations for Pratchett are so much higher than that, so I was disappointed.
