I haven't read this book. My mother-in-law gave this to me to seed my new Little Free Library I'll be putting up sometime in the next month. I may want to read this one first so it may not end up in the library until I can get to it. (Too many books, too little time!)

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
I just released this book in my new Little Free Library that my family put up today.
I was searching for 'when she woke' by Hillary Jordan, but the bookstore only had this book, so I got it instead. Glad that I did. Great characters. A hard read due to the historical context. It's the racist south in the 1940's, and everything you expect that goes along with that. Thought provoking considering how far we have come, and how far we haven't.
I caught this book in a Little Free Library in Richmond, CA. I will pass it on to a friend in El Cerrito. I loved this book because it was so well written and covers an important period of American history, sadly aspects of that period still being with us today. The story is told in six different characters' voices -- each character, fully realized, telling their version of what was taking place. The racism, well depicted, is harsh, but important to face up to. I hope to see the movie soon.
