The White Queen tells the story of a common woman who ascends to royalty by virtue of her beauty, a woman who rises to the demands of her position and fights tenaciously for the success of her family, a woman whose two sons become the central figures in a mystery that has confounded historians for centuries: the Princes in the Tower whose fate remains unknown to this day.....
This is the first in The Cousins War series & I picked up the second "The Red Queen" at the same time. Well at 10p each I couldn't not do......

Journal Entry 2 by Plum-crazy at Brighouse, West Yorkshire United Kingdom on Sunday, September 28, 2014
Well, it's now 20th October & I'm finally getting around to reviewing this book so needless to say it's not as fresh in my mind as it was! My excuse being that I read it on the way back from Florida & on arriving home it got sided away with some other stuff by mistake! But I digress....
My problem with this book, well not just this book but any historical novel, is I tend to believe everything I'm reading.....don't/can't distinguish between fact & fiction! Also ours is a very pro Richard household so before I began reading I wasn't going to be happy if he was portrayed as an evil King (Shakespeare, you have a lot to answer for)
However Gregory does take pains to identify her "imaginary" sections & if she contravenes known facts, well I couldn't honestly say what they were. It's reasonable to assume that people believed witchcraft was involved as it was a sign of the times that they were living in. The swopping of sides certainly kept me on my toes - how on earth people decided who they could trust or not I have no idea!
So all-in-all a good read. I've got "The Red Queen" already on my TBR mountain but at this point I'm not sure if I'll read it or not.
